<![CDATA[A Day for Mom and Dad]]> 41582 Thu, 18 Mar 2010 02:51:32 -0600 In the spirit of strange holidays, the Arch is celebrating "Mom and Dad Forgiveness Day" today. Allow me to get the ball rolling:

Dear Mom and Dad,

Yes I do know that you brought me into this world, and you can take me out. Thank you for the almost 30 year reprieve on making a final decision. I do also know that sitting too close to the TV will ruin my eyesight, but again thank you for buying me my first pair of glasses. And even if we aren't there yet I know that we will eventually arrive, and you've taught me that the journey is just as important as the destination. However, I still do have to go to the bathroom.

Much love (and forgiveness),

-Andrew

Appreciate your parents today, or at least make sure your kids appreciate you!

<![CDATA[MJ Estate Lives On]]> 41479 Tue, 16 Mar 2010 23:52:54 -0600 In a landmark, record-breaking move Sony has just put together a deal with the Estate of Michael Jackson that could be worth up to $250 MILLION. It will encompass virtually every aspect of Michael's music over the next seven years; which will include a new album before the end of the year! That, combined with the almost $250 mil going to the estate from the 31 million albums sold so far, since MJ's death, should just about break the estate at EVEN. Hooray for debt!

<![CDATA[Eddy Grant Going After The Gorillaz]]> 41361 Tue, 16 Mar 2010 00:36:06 -0600 After a few years off, the Gorillaz have just released their new album Plastic Beach. If you're not totally familiar with them, they're the group that uses animated characters to represent themselves (even in concert); the picture to the right should help too. Not even a week has passed since the first single, "Stylo", has become very popular. So popular, that it has drawn some serious criticism...from Eddy Grant. Mr. Grant believes that "Stylo" sounds a great deal like his club famous "Time Warp", and that serious decisions need to be made in how to rectify the situation. The worst part? This is another situation happening under the umbrella of EMI, who represents both artists. Lawyers could be involved before the end of the week. Follow the links above to make your decision!

<![CDATA[Snow Patrol Singer Relocates]]> 41263 Mon, 15 Mar 2010 03:19:52 -0600 A strange story has just come out that Gary Lightbody, the frontman for Snow Patrol, has been singing for the past EIGHT YEARS with a dislocated jaw. Apparently, due in part to a mistrust of western medicine, Lightbody never got x-rays of the injury. Finally, the pain became too great and he saw a doctor about it recently; the problem has now been corrected, and we can get on with our Snow Patrol lives!

<![CDATA[Phil Collins On a Roll]]> 40807 Thu, 11 Mar 2010 03:36:59 -0700 As if Genesis being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame wasn’t enough for Phil this year; he will also be awarded the Johnny Mercer Award at the Songwriters Hall of Fame Annual Dinner in June. Dear Mr. Collins, could you please slow down a bit? You’re making the rest of us look bad!

<![CDATA[G n' R vs. S. America]]> 40681 Wed, 10 Mar 2010 03:23:44 -0700 Guns n’ Roses are currently on a trek across South America for a series of 11 shows. They’ve just announced that they will also be playing three intimate shows along the tour; these shows could seat as few as 150 people. It seems that Axel and the gang have really taken to smaller, surprise shows over the last few months (think Fashion Week). I’m not sure what’s changed in the recent incarnation of G n' R, but I like the new vibe!

<![CDATA[New News from the Foos]]> 40555 Tue, 09 Mar 2010 03:25:55 -0700 Another great band will begin recording in lo-fi starting in September. The Foo Fighters are not only working on some sort of "garage" project album, but a new documentary will be filmed during the process of recording about the new album. No final release date yet, but I'll go out on a limb and say by Christmas or just after the New Year we'll finally get our new Foo!

<![CDATA[Lilith Fair Adding More Artists and Cities on Summer Tour]]> 40453 Mon, 08 Mar 2010 03:23:54 -0700 The Lilith Fair is back, and adding more acts as we speak! The most recent, notable add is Kelly Clarkson, but not the only familiar name. The Go Go's have made the bill as well as the Bangles; artists from Susan Vega to The Dixie Chicks will make appearances. The biggest news is that St. Louis has made the tour trek for the summer. We’re not sure when exactly; I’d imagine it will be towards the end of the summer (that’s just a best guess though). Stay tuned!

<![CDATA[Australia Dealt a Second Musical Blow]]> 39920 Thu, 04 Mar 2010 03:22:55 -0700 As if the recent, mixed-at-best reviews of Whitney Houston's Australian tour weren’t bad enough, there's more trouble brewing. It would seem that Huey Lewis and the News have now cancelled their upcoming tour of the country! As a HLN fan, I'm definitely concerned about the band. As for Australia, I think they'll survive!

<![CDATA[Toto To Reform This Summer]]> 39600 Mon, 01 Mar 2010 03:17:46 -0700 In 2008 Toto decided to pack it in; the band spent just over 30 years in existence. That is not where the story ends though. Coming up this summer they'll be touring again, and all for a tremendous cause: To help out a friend. In 2007 Mike Porcaro, a man who spent quite a tenure as their bassist, was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). This summer's reformation/tour will go to raising funds for Mr. Porcaro's cause and family. Not a lot of information is available yet, and no one is sure how many dates they'll play or where all the dates will be. So far they appear to be in Europe only, but who knows what will be decided by go time!

<![CDATA[Whitney Houston In Trouble Down Under?]]> 39175 Fri, 26 Feb 2010 03:42:06 -0700 It's been 22 years since she's officially toured Australia, and it seems like some fans wouldn't mind if the current incarnation of Whitney Houston stayed away for 22 more. They are claiming that the singer appeared unwell on stage during the shows she's done so far; even stopping during songs to rest. Naturally, those responding for Ms. Houston claim that it simply isn't true. For sure, if you're a Whitney Houston fan, keep a close eye on her over the next several months! Whitney will be touring Europe next.

<![CDATA[Stone Temple Pilots Have a New Album]]> 39007 Thu, 25 Feb 2010 03:15:58 -0700 Even Scott Weiland is looking healthier these days! It would seem like things are going pretty darn good since STP got back together; except for Velvet Revolver anyway. The crew just hosted a private listening party for their new disc, and it will hit stores June 1st. Also, you can catch them at South by Southwest this summer. I'm excited to see things working out so well for the band! Go STP!

<![CDATA[Aerosmith Gaining Momentum]]> 38838 Wed, 24 Feb 2010 03:11:54 -0700 Not too long ago we discovered that Mr. Tyler would indeed be fronting the band for their appearance at the U.K.'s Download Festival. Now it seems that there will be more dates added in the near future; in Europe anyway. I won't believe it until I see it, but it seems that more news is coming soon!

<![CDATA[EMI Doing 180 on Abbey Road]]> 38696 Tue, 23 Feb 2010 03:40:14 -0700 Last week Beatles fans around the world were shocked to hear news of EMI wanting to unload the Abbey Road recording studios. This is, however, a new week with new news. Now it seems that the decision to sell has been reversed, and sights have been set to renovate the site. Hopefully more good news to come!
