The Admiral first came to the St Louis Riverfront back in 1940 and has remained there for most of the time. That's 70 years the Admiral has been a part of St Louis.
Some of us have memories of cruising the Mississippi on the Admiral when we were kids. For some of us--our parents have memories of playing on the Admiral--or listening to music--dancing on the Admiral.
I'm afraid its the end of the line for the Admiral. Sorry to see it go.

You know there are a lot of breast cancer events but this one is the only one dedicated to specifically helping young women with breast cancer. You may not know this-but breast cancer is more aggressive in young women and they have the highest recurrence rate and the lowest overall survival rate.
This event Saturday-Celebrate Fitness-is a 90 minute fitness workshop for men and women. Its at the Wash U Athletic Complex. 8 til 10. And all the money raised will stay here to help women who live in the St Louis region and the Young Women's Breast Cancer Program at Siteman Cancer Center.
Its really fun. Its great for men and women of all ages. Again this year I'll be helping to MC and I hope to see you there.

What I don't think is a good idea is what they want to change the name to. The bill states the name of the hiway would change from the Mark McGwire Hiway to the Mark Twain Hiway. Why ? Mark Twain never lived here in St Louis. Great writer--but he died a hundred years ago.
To me--this is a no-brainer. Name the hiway after Stan The Man Musial. He's a St Louis icon and deserving on any honor bestowed upon him. After the lame tribute to Stan The Man during last season's All-Star Game--I think we owe it to Stan.
]]>I always look forward to March 1st. I'm pretty sick of winter weather by March 1st and am longing for spring's arrival. And I feel a sense of relief on March 1st. I feel that by the end of the month-we should be done with the winter cold and snow and ice.
Oh sure we may get an occassional cold snap or spring snow storm. But for the most part-by the end of March-we are done with the winter crud.
March 1st always makes me happy--spring is coming--very soon.

]]>It was a funny thing with George. He went from being my least favorite when I was a kid to becoming my favorite Beatle as an adult. And if you are in my generation--you know how important it was to let everybody know who your favorite Beatle was.
I think George Harrison was always cool--we just didn't know it back in the early days. John and Paul kinda kept him in their shadows.
But George was cool--and super talented---and died too young.
Happy Birthday George.
