Are there male ladybugs ? That is the question this morning. The answer is yes--but it is very difficult to tell the males from the females. Although the females are a bit larger. And what are male ladybugs called ? They are called male ladybugs.

The ladybug-BTW-is actually a beetle and there are over 3-thousand different species.

One of the reasons there may be a lot of ladybugs is because they have a bad taste--so most predators avoid them. Plus-when they're disturbed they release a bad smelling fluid from their joints.

And did you ever see a ladybug fly ? They can. Their wings are hidden under their colorful wing covers.
