When Jim Morrison got drunk, he liked to sing Blues numbers at their jam sessions. They jammed on a lot of Blues numbers, and came up with this at one of the sessions. Some assumed this song was a cover, but it was actually a Doors original.
They had a few guest musicians performing on this track, one being guitar great Lonnie Mack who played bass. The Doors usually did not use a bass player. John Sebastian from the Lovin' Spoonful played harmonica. He is identified on the album as "G. Puglese" because he was afraid to be identified with The Doors in light of Morrison's arrest in Miami. Better known as the “Miami Incident”, which happened at a 1969 concert that involved an angry crowd and indecent exposure.
A criminal trial against Jim Morrison started in Miami in August of 1970, the same time they were promoting their critically acclaimed record, “Morrison Hotel”. This is the first song on the record, “Roadhouse Blues”.
