Ronnie Montrose wants his guitar back... after 37 years!  MusicRadar.com says Ronnie believes Gary Moore has his vintage 1958 Les Paul Sunburst, so he's suing the former Thin Lizzy guitarist to force its return.  Montrose lost the instrument nearly 37 years ago when he was in the Edgar Winter Group.  It's the guitar he used on the E.W.G. album "They Only Come Out at Night" which features "Free Ride" and "Frankenstein."  Ronnie says the Les Paul was stolen during an Edgar Winter Group concert in Dudley, Massachusetts in October 1972.  Montrose has been searching for it ever since.  He even hired a private detective but still was unsuccessful.  Now he thinks he's found it.  Montrose says he's sure it's his guitar he saw in a photo in the UK magazine "Guitar Buyer" showcasing Moore's instrument collection.  Ronnie isn't accusing Moore of stealing the Sunburst.  He's suing because his efforts to reach Moore to address the issue with him directly have gone unanswered.

I saw Ronnie using the guitar in question in 1972 at Kiel Auditorium during an Edgar Winter Group show.  Black Oak Arkansas opened.  It was my first concert!  I recall asking, "What's that smell?" several times.
