I'll look for any excuse to play something completely cheesy from the 70s or 80s. After all, it's a gorgeous day & Fridays are meant to be casual at school, right?
The year was 1987 & every girl in junior high (excluding me) was all about worshipping Tiffany. Not unlike Britney Spears, what Tiffany lacked in talent, she made up for in remaking songs & & looking pretty. Thus, 16 year old Tiffany Darwisch was able to score a #1 hit by covering I Think We're Alone Now by Tommy James & the Shondells. When the song went to #1, she became the youngest female singer to top the album chart, and also the first singer born in the '70s to hit the top spot.
The sad part is that I may have been the only junior high girl at the time who knew it was a remake.
Simon's School of Rock will be back in session Monday night at 8 on 106.5 the Arch.
