Everyone loves a happy song, & Paul McCartney delivered with the silly tune, Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da from the 1968 White Album.

Paul McCartney, who wrote it, wanted this to be a radio single, but John, Ringo & George actually hated the song.  It was good enough for album filler, but not a single.

The title comes from a reggae song by Jimmy Scott.  Paul McCartney said, "A fella who used to hang around the clubs used to say in a Jamaican accent, 'Ob-la-di, ob-la-da, life goes on,' and he got annoyed when I did a song of it, 'cause he wanted a cut. I said, 'Come on, Jimmy, it's just an expression."  Jimmy Scott later landed in jail & needed to be bailed out.  In exchange for dropping rights to the song name, Paul McCartney bailed him out.
