Last night's rain has moved on & today St. Louis was treated to a beautiful day. Thus, I felt tonight's lesson should be Mr. Blue Sky by the Electric Light Orchestra.
This song closed the side of the album, Out of the Blue titled "Concerto For A Rainy Day."
Jeff Lynne locked himself in a Swiss chalet to write music for the follow-up album to A New World Record. Jeff says in a BBC radio interview, "It was dark and misty for 2 weeks, and I didn't come up with a thing. Suddenly the sun shone and it was, 'Wow, look at those beautiful Alps.' I wrote Mr. Blue Sky and 13 other songs in the next 2 weeks."
St. Louis, it's springtime! Say hello to Mr. Blue Sky!
Tune in for another lesson on Simon's School of Rock, weeknights at 8 on 106.5 the Arch.
