Surviving the Holiday Season

Every year I tell myself that THIS holiday season is going to be different.  There will NOT be ANY rushing around at the last minute buying gifts; staying up all night wrapping presents; buying all the ingredients to make baked goodies but not having the time to bake. THIS YEARI WILL BE READY FOR CHRISTMAS!!!

So I find myself with only 2 weeks till Christmas – there’s no tree up; not one present wrapped; my shopping isn’t even completed; I’ve done no baking and not one Christmas card is signed, addressed or ready to mail.

I say all of this because in trying to find some inspiration on the internet about “surviving the hectic-ness of the holidays”…I came across a headline which read “Surviving the Holidays – Stress Free!”   That was IT!  I HAD to know more!  I quickly clicked on the headline and what to my wondering eyes did appear…an advertisement for........AN ANTI-DEPRESSANT!!!

I thought I was going to read some words of wisdom, (which deep down I probably already know because I’ve read the same basic article over and over in every Woman’s magazine known to womankind.)  But instead, it was an ad for an ANTI-DEPRESSANT!  In that split-second, I had to laugh!  Is this what the “hectic-ness of the holiday season” has reduced us to…anti-depressants? That got me thinking.

When it’s all said and done, the shopping will be complete (thanks to all my favorites stores that are open until midnight or later); the presents will more than likely get put into Holiday Bags vs. wrapping – it’s much quicker that way; the baking may have to wait until the New Year’s Party; BUT the tree will go up…and STAY UP probably until Valentine's Day!  After all, I want to be able to enjoy it for quite sometime.  And there’s nothing more soothing and stress-free, than after fighting rush hour traffic on cold, snowy January night; being able to sit on the couch sipping a cup of hot chocolate, eating some homemade iced sugar cookies and watching TV by the lights of my Christmas Tree.  When it's all said and done...I WILL survive the holidays.

Here are some suggestions as to how YOU really can survive this holiday season!
