Today is the deadline in Illinois. Wednesday is the voter registration deadline in Missouri.
Would-be voters in both states can register with their county clerks or local election offices, most of which close at 5 p.m. daily.
In the city of St. Louis, the Election Board headquarters at 300 North Tucker Boulevard is extending its hours until 7 p.m. today and 10 p.m. on Wednesday to handle any last-minute registrations.
Each state allows mailed-in registrations, which are available on the Internet (rockthevote.com), but they must be postmarked by each state's deadline.
