Houston, we have a malfunction!
It was Super Bowl 38 on Feb 1, 2004 that became infamous for its controversial wardrobe malfunction, which resulted in a record $550,000 FCC fine against CBS, as well as an increase of the FCC fine per indecency violation from $27,500 to $325,000 for all radio and TV stations! That’s a lot of %$&*-ing money!
It was a wild night from the other performers too - St. Louis’ own Nelly making gestures toward his crotch, and KID ROCK appearing in a poncho made from a cut up American Flag, which he later tossed into the crowd.
Then came the wardrobe malfunction - It’s a moment that still stands as the most replayed event in TiVo history and the most searched image on the internet, ever. Everybody remembers the image…but do you remember the song that they were doing when it happened?
Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake were performing a medley of Jackson's songs “All for You” and “Rhythm Nation” along with Timberlake’s “Rock Your Body”. Just as Timberlake reached his final lyrics of his song, he sang the line "I'm gonna have you naked by the end of this song," and then he pulled off a part of Janet’s costume, revealing her right breast, partially covered by a nipple shield, for nine-sixteenths of a second. So tonight on School of Rock: Justin Timberlake’s “ROCK YOUR BODY”
