Tonight’s band started in 2001 with lead singer Brent Smith. He had a development deal with a different band on Atlantic Records and the label decided to move forward with Brent and not with the rest of his band. The label allowed him to write with other people, develop his songwriting craft, and find the musicians that he wanted to work with.
This song is about lead singer Brent Smith leaving his native Knoxville, Tennessee, to pursue a career in rock 'n' roll. He says, “This song for me is the most personal song on the record because it's about how I grew up and my childhood. It's about throwing caution to the wind and going after what you truly want in life."
After seeing them live several times, in my opinion Brent Smith has the best voice in rock n roll right now. This is their biggest hit to date and is from their most recent record “The Sound of Madness.”
