In 1975 at the age of 17, tonight’s artist started playing lead guitar for an all-female rock band started by Joan Jett called The Runaways.  A movie about the band titled “The Runaways” starring Dakota Fanning, is in production and should be out sometime in 2010.  The movie will chronicle the success in the 4 years they were together as they opened for bands like Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Van Halen and Cheap Trick.  After the band dissolved, some of the members went on to have successful careers.  Bassist Micki Steele joined The Bangles, and Joan Jett had a very successful solo career.  Another member returned as a solo artist in the 1980s, where she released several albums before pairing with manager Sharon Osbourne.  After a long hiatus, she is attempting to revive her career, performing at several festival shows in 2008 and she released her first studio album in 14 years in October.
