In the mid 90’s this band emerged as part of a new genre of music labeled as "Nu Metal", bands that had a rap rock sound. Although that genre has fizzled, the band kept exploring different sounds and ended up becoming one few bands that survived the "Nu Metal" label.
This song is from their debut record "Hybrid Theory", which was also the original name of the band. It sold an astonishing 4.8 million records the first year it was out, making it the best selling of all records released in 2001.
They are currently working on their new record which they plan to release in early 2010. Once again with this record their intention is to “bust genres” and put out a very cutting edge record.
