Justin Timberlake will reportedly be starring in a movie about Facebook! VARIETY, one of the film industry’s most respected trade magazines says Timberlake will play Napster co-founder Sean Parker who later became Facebooks’ founding president. Jesse Eisenberg (Adventureland, Zombieland) will play Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and Kevin Spacey is serving as one of the producers of the film.
2009 has been a fertile year for new “supergroups” to form. First, there was Chickenfoot featuring Sammy Hagar on vocals, Joe Satriani on guitar, VH’s Michael Anthony on bass and drums from RHCP’s Chad Smith. Their first album did very well, going gold and selling more than 500,000 copies. Now comes word of Them Crooked Vultures which is a collaboration of Led Zeppelin’s John Paul Jones on bass, Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age on guitar and Foo Fighter Dave Grohl on drums. Grohl put the trio together by inviting the other two (seperately) to dinner at L.A.’s “Medieval Times” restaurant, where they bonded. And ate with their fingers. And cheered for the jousting.
It’s not a done deal, but it looks like U2 will be one of the next superstar acts to have their own branded video game. The band is in discussions with MTV Games and Electronic Arts about the possibility of creating a Rock Band: U2 game.
Genesis has kept itself busy while off the road preparing a couple of compilations. One has been released already – September 14th was the release of “Genesis Live 1973-2007” (their first four live albums), and now November 24th is the next red letter date for Genesis fans. That day, Genesis will introduce “The Movie Box” a DVD set with tons of live performances with Phil Collins as the frontman, including the 1982 concert film “Three Sides Live”, and 1984’s “Genesis Live: The Mama Tour”. Even more enticing for Genesis fans is an updated version of VH1’s Behind The Music special and one disc devoted to then band’s “Live At Wembley’ performance stretching out over four nights in 1987.
