SCROLL DOWN for JAY's BIO -

I was born in St. Louis and grew up here, Minneapolis and San Jose, California...a multi-city childhood that prepared me well for the rock band-style, gypsy touring life that is a career in radio.

It's been a blast seeing America by working and living in all quadrants of the USA - I've been to 46 of our states and seen a lot of our amazing country, living and working in places like San Jose/San Francisco, Minneapolis, Seattle, Milwaukee, Norfolk/Virginia Beach, Springfield, IL, Dallas and Charleston, SC. I previously worked in St. Louis radio from 1995-97 when KSD was classic rock - (I think they play Polkas of the Antarctic now).

I came back to StL for good in 2006 to take care of family matters and have been with THE ARCH since June of 2007. It is the most perfect music station I have ever worked for, allowing me to indulge my rawk side as much as my love for pop music. It's my passion to bring all kinds of music to you and to dig around for the fun facts and stories behind the tunes and the people who make them.

I'm really lucky to be on TEAM ARCH, and I really appreciate that YOU listen. Thanks!

The ARCHive - Thu 10/1: NO EXCUSES by ALICE IN CHAINS

Alice In Chains was one of the key bands of the grunge era.  Along with Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Soundgarden, AIC was part of one of the greatest (and speediest) shifts in rock music tastes in history.

It seemed that one day we were all "crankin' it up to 11" with our Winger, Warrant, Whitesnake and White Lion wecords when all of a sudden, the "hair band" era was ended by the growl of the grunge bands of the Pacific Northwest.

Nirvana and Soundgarden have been off the scene for quite a while, and only Pearl Jam (which just released a new album "Backspacer" last week) has been consistently active...Until now.

After waiting 7 years following the death of founding singer Layne Staley, Alice in Chains has returned with a new singer (William DuVall) and a new album (Black Gives Way To Blue) which was released yesterday.  In an interesting twist and mashup of musical styles - Elton John plays piano on the title tune!

AIC actually made the decison to re-form in 2005 when, after playing a benefit for the victims of the Asian tsunami, they received great response.

AIC did a two night stand on the Jimmy Kimmel Show (ABC) this week, and looked and sounded great, so it's Alice In Chains for the Archives today with a song from their #1 release in 1994 Jar of Flies - NO EXCUSES.
