SCROLL DOWN for JAY's BIO -

I was born in St. Louis and grew up here, Minneapolis and San Jose, California...a multi-city childhood that prepared me well for the rock band-style, gypsy touring life that is a career in radio.

It's been a blast seeing America by working and living in all quadrants of the USA - I've been to 46 of our states and seen a lot of our amazing country, living and working in places like San Jose/San Francisco, Minneapolis, Seattle, Milwaukee, Norfolk/Virginia Beach, Springfield, IL, Dallas and Charleston, SC. I previously worked in St. Louis radio from 1995-97 when KSD was classic rock - (I think they play Polkas of the Antarctic now).

I came back to StL for good in 2006 to take care of family matters and have been with THE ARCH since June of 2007. It is the most perfect music station I have ever worked for, allowing me to indulge my rawk side as much as my love for pop music. It's my passion to bring all kinds of music to you and to dig around for the fun facts and stories behind the tunes and the people who make them.

I'm really lucky to be on TEAM ARCH, and I really appreciate that YOU listen. Thanks!

RICK ROCKED RICKMAN

I gotta say, I was pretty impressed with Rick Springfield and the show he put on at the Rickman Auditorium in Arnold on Saturday night!  I’ve played his music at many of the radio stations where I’ve worked since he started having his big hits in the early 80’s, and I like his music, but I wouldn’t call myself a follower to the extent that I’ve known his every move over the years, so his energy, passion and involvement with his audience blew me away.

For starters, he is one of those rare folks who really looks only half his age.  He turned 60 about a month ago, but still has the face, the body, the energy and the attitude of a 30 year old – good traits to have if you’re a rock star!  He’s only about a year younger than Steven Tyler, and there’s a guy that shows every mile of his life!

He played all of his big songs, and the band he’s got made them all sound just like the records you bought when they were new.  Surprises in his set included a cover of Paul McCartney & Wings’ “Jet”, “Crossroads” by Cream, “Wild Thing” by The Troggs, and a return to some Beatlemania with the band playing a portion of “She’s So Heavy” as he introduced them.

Coolest of all were his stage moves…lots of energy and crowd interaction.  During “Don’t Talk To Strangers”, he did a sing-a-long allowing audience members to sing the title line, several of whom he actually pulled onto the stage.  During “Human Touch”, he fearlessly ventured into the crowd, walking on the tops of the backs of the seats about halfway through the theatre getting touched by everyone along the way.  Very brave.

For me, the most amusing thing was his destruction of the dozens of flower bouquets his fans brought to the show.  Executing the standard rock & roll windmill move on his guitar combined with a dozen or so roses in his hand, he created these huge explosions of petals…a cool effect.

  • I had never been to a Ricks Springfield concert before last night. It was excellent. I watched Rick as Dr. Noah Drake on GH when I would get home from MHS. I also had his poster in my bedroom. I never imagined that this 41 year old woman would revert back to being 16! I had to call my sister today and tell her that I got to touch Rick during his performance of Human Touch. The interaction that he had with the audience was great! When he came back on stage at the concerts end and sang Kristina I could have died. (Thanks Ken & Shawna)
