SCROLL DOWN for JAY's BIO -

I was born in St. Louis and grew up here, Minneapolis and San Jose, California...a multi-city childhood that prepared me well for the rock band-style, gypsy touring life that is a career in radio.

It's been a blast seeing America by working and living in all quadrants of the USA - I've been to 46 of our states and seen a lot of our amazing country, living and working in places like San Jose/San Francisco, Minneapolis, Seattle, Milwaukee, Norfolk/Virginia Beach, Springfield, IL, Dallas and Charleston, SC. I previously worked in St. Louis radio from 1995-97 when KSD was classic rock - (I think they play Polkas of the Antarctic now).

I came back to StL for good in 2006 to take care of family matters and have been with THE ARCH since June of 2007. It is the most perfect music station I have ever worked for, allowing me to indulge my rawk side as much as my love for pop music. It's my passion to bring all kinds of music to you and to dig around for the fun facts and stories behind the tunes and the people who make them.

I'm really lucky to be on TEAM ARCH, and I really appreciate that YOU listen. Thanks!

SCHOOL OF ROCK - Thursday September 3rd: Thrillie Jean

Last night (9/3), as Michael Jackson was finally laid to rest, the School of Rock really had no lesson to present, but rather a fascinating Show & Tell exhibit for your entertainment.

The process of recording songs can be a very long and drawn out process.  Frequently, what comes out of the studio after a recording or producing session is nothing like the result the artist might have intended going in.

The raw tapes of a recording session or a song in progress offer a glimpse into the creative process – so tonight, we heard a couple of MJ rarities.

The first thing in our exclusive mashup was the actual recording session where Vincent Price came in to do his spoken part of the song Thriller.  He interacted with Michael during the session, and we included the rare second verse to his poem that was not used in the final mix of the song.

That was mixed with a demo version of Billie Jean.  The music is not yet fully developed and you could hear Michael kind of following along, humming and improvising words to get the feel of the song…it’s almost as if he wasn’t done writing it.

It’s a little thing we called “Thrillie Jean”.
