A fella from Ohio downloaded a word game app called “Say the Same Thing” and hit the app jackpot. It was Apple’s 50 billionth app download and made Brandon Ashmore $10,000 richer. The App Store launched in 2008 with 500 apps. It now has more than 850,000 iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch apps.
Swimming Swift Fan Arrested
A Taylor Swift fan was arrested after swimming up to her beachfront home in Rhode Island, hoping to meet her. The 22 year-old man was cuffed for trespassing after swimming a MILE to Taylor’s house and turning around when he saw her security team. The man said he just wanted to get closer to Taylor.
Ke$ha’s Coming
After her summer tour with Pitbull, Ke$ha will embark on a headlining jaunt that will bring her to the Illinois State Fair in Springfield on August 17th. Some of the other acts at the I.S.F include REO, Styx and Head East on August 10th, and Journey with Nightranger on August 18th.

Foodstagramming is the act of taking a picture of what you’re eating and posting it online. A psychiatrist says this may signal an unhealthy preoccupation with food, and in turn, an eating disorder. If you do it a lot, you’re at least annoying.
Michael’s Secrets
AEG Live is on trial to see if they’re going to share the blame for Michael Jackson’s death with Dr Conrad Murray. Yesterday, jurors got to see Jackson’s autopsy photos. They also found out about some of Michael’s secrets. The autopsy report showed that Jackson’s lips were tattooed pink. His eyebrows were actually dark tattoos. The front of his scalp was also tattooed black, apparently to blend his hairline in with the wigs he wore. The autopsy confirmed what Jackson told people who questioned why his skin tone became lighter in the 1980s. He had vitiligo, which is a skin pigmentation disease. The doctor said, “If not for his death by propofol, Jackson’s health appeared good enough for him to live a normal lifespan.”
Led Zeppelin and a Cat
The band with a well known song called “Black Dog” has something in common with a cat… Superstorm Sandy. Here’s the connection. Former President Bill Clinton asked the remaining members of Led Zeppelin to reunite and perform at last year’s Superstorm Sandy Benefit Concert. They were stateside receiving Kennedy Center honors when Clinton inquired. But, they said no.
Now for the cat. His name is Porsche. When the storm hit, his New Jersey family had to evacuate but Porsche was nowhere to be found. They assumed he died. But just this past week, six months after the storm, Porsche showed up on the deck of his original house. The family is calling his return a “miracle.” I wonder how big a miracle it would take to get Led Zepp back together?

If you need a Mother’s Day gift idea for a music lover, Katy Perry has just unveiled her latest fragrance. “Killer Queen” is Katy’s third fragrance following “Purr” and “Meow”. Katy tweeted: “OK! I have been working on my third fragrance for over a year & want to unveil the look NOW! ”
She Paid Cash
Because she can, Taylor Swift bought a mansion in Rhode Island for $17 million and she did it by paying cash! According to TMZ, Taylor had been checking out the 11,000 square foot estate for a few weeks. The asking price was $20 million, but Swift got it for $17 million. She wired the money over and movers were spotted at the house during the weekend.
Bands Not in RNR HOF that Should Be
Readers of Rolling Stone magazine recently voted Deep Purple as the band most deserving induction into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. I was happy to see this as I was once a rock keyboardist, and there was no other band that featured that instrument more. The late Jon Lord was a truly brilliant keyboardist. The band’s “Fireball” was my very first album purchase. Deep Purple is followed on the list by the Smiths, KISS, Yes, the Moody Blues and Cheap Trick.
Allergies?
The way someone sneezes says a lot about their personality. Researchers found that a loud, explosive sneeze says that a person is outgoing and demonstrative. My morning show partner Rick sneezes so loud that it scares me, as well as others in a 100-yard radius. But a person who tries to hold back a sneeze is likely shy.
Here’s some interesting sneeze stats. One sneeze adds 100,000 germs to the surrounding atmosphere. A normal sneeze travels at 100 mph. You can’t sneeze while sleeping AND you can’t sneeze with your eyes open. So, try not to sneeze while driving!

Taxi cab companies in Las Vegas are under fire for bilking customers out of nearly $15 million last year. An audit found that cabbies ripped riders off of $14.8 million last year with a practice known as “long hauling” or as most people call it, taking the scenic route. About 22.5% of cab rides to and from the airport were done in this fashion. There are fines for “long hauling’ but a new bill would double those penalties. Cabbie unions say drivers don’t want to “long haul” their passengers but are forced to by their bosses.
Should Passengers Get Weighed?
According to a new survey, nearly half of Americans say passengers should be weighed at the airport and pay a fee if they’re overweight. The survey also found that 63% said they agreed that any passengers who spilled over the edges of their seats with the arm rests down should have to buy a second ticket. But wouldn’t weighing passengers at the airport or screening them to see if they’ll take up two seats delay flights even more? Pretty soon driving will be just as fast as flying!
Tom Cruise Tops Box Office
Tom Cruise has the biggest movie in America. The sci-fi thriller “Oblivion” took in $38.1 million over the weekend to open in first place. Last weekend’s number-one, “42″ fell to second with $18 million. “The Croods” remained in third with $9.5 million while “Scary Movie 5″ fell from second to fourth with $6.3 million. “Oz the Great and Powerful” is still in the top ten (barely) with $3 million.
Business Opportunity?
Duct tape is the new home decorating craze… allegedly. The world’s first and only shop dedicated to selling duct tape opened recently in New York. The store offers duct tape shoes, dresses, necklaces and even wallpaper. The patterns range from neon leopard print to farm animals. The idea started on the TV show Project Runway where budding designers were competing using unconventional materials.
I can see a practical use for this seemingly strange idea. What if your radiator hose springs a leak, and you’re wearing your duct tape necklace? Problem fixed!
Reese is Too Old?
Fleetwood Mac and solo singer Stevie Nicks hopes her life will one day be made into a movie. She had originally said Reese Witherspoon should play her, but now she’s changed her mind. Stevie said, “I’ve already told Reese she’s almost too old. I love her, but…”
Witherspoon just turned 37. She won an Academy Award in 2005 for her stunning portrayal of June Carter Cash in Walk The Line. Lindsey Lohan (26) has said she’d love to play Stevie on the big screen. Nicks reply was something along the line of “Over my dead body.”
Kid Rock Slams JT and Jay Z
Kid Rock has a problem with the ticket prices for the upcoming tour of Justin Timberlake and Jay Z. He heard a rumor that J & J are considering a $225 price point for their concerts and said, “It’s garbage. It’s highway robbery. I don’t care who you are. I would consider both of them in a circle of friends in the business but I don’t agree with it.”
Kid Rock recently announced a budget-friendly summer tour with tickets costing only $20. This includes his show at Verizon Wireless Amphitheater on August 24th. He said, “I’m proud that I could walk around with my head held high and look someone in the eye, knowing that I haven’t taken an un-honest dollar from a working man. I make a lot of money. I can take a pay cut.
Happy Birthday Duckie
Most of us first met Jon Cryer as Phil “Duckie” Dale in Pretty in Pink. He was just 19 when he landed that role. It took several failed TV series before Cryer landed another big score. In 2003 he was cast as Alan Harper in Two and a Half Men, a role he was apparantly born to play. Jon has been nominated for seven Primetime Emmy Awards and won two of them. The show remains a ratings winner. Jon Cryer turns 48 today.
Adam Shows His True Colors
Last Friday night, Adam Levine and Cyndi Lauper were guests on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Adam showed what a big fan he is of Cyndi by saying, “I love you. I think you’re so awesome. You’re just an amazing, interesting, brilliant human being and I’ve always wanted to tell you that. So I waited until national television.”
Cyndi grabbed Adam’s hand, patted him on the shoulder and told him, “Hey, you’re not too shabby yourself buddy.”
To Bra or Not to Bra
According to Hollywood legend, Marilyn Monroe slept in a bra to keep her assets firm and perky. A new study from France suggests it might have been more effective for her to go without. Researchers spent fifteen years studying the breasts of 330 French women, and concluded that wearing a bra does not prevent sagging or ease back pain. Professor Jean-Denis Rouillon said, “Medically, physiologically, anatomically – breasts gain no benefit from being denied gravity. On the contrary, they get saggier with a bra.” Taking measurements with a caliper, the researchers found that by not wearing a bra, muscles around the breast actually strengthened and the nipple raised 7mm per year toward the shoulder.
However, the scientists did not recommend all women ditch their bras since their muscles had probably already degraded.
Too Juicy to Ignore
John Mayer is allegedly back to his womanizing ways. According to hollywoodlife.com, Mayer has been sexting Katy Perry’s good friend Rihanna just weeks after he and Katy split. A source says his texts were very sexy, and he said they should get together. Perry and Rihanna have been friends for years. Perhaps Mayer began chasing Rihanna while still involved with Katy. Who knows? But it certainly could’ve caused the breakup.
