Mark Hyken loves all kinds of music ranging from The Arch song selections, big band, jazz, and 60’s and 70’s obscure tracks. He loves the continuing process of learning about songs and artists. He grew up in St. Louis County and graduated from Ladue High. His first radio jobs were all at college stations. He was playing bands such as The Police and U2 back when they were considered “alternative.” He had a 2 year stint at Mizzou back in the 80’s and just graduated Summa Cum Laude from UMSL. Mark founded his own “music and etc.” store called The Den in Morgantown, WV. He got back into radio around 1999 when the local alternative station needed a programmer and host for their deep track 60’s and 70’s weekly program. With his obsession for music, he was a shoe in for the job. But it wasn’t enough to feed his musical obsession. At one point he was employed by three stations in the area at the same time! After having a child, he decided to move back home to St. Louis. He had no idea that a job at 106-5 the Arch was an option and is very happy about it!
