Brando grew up an ambitious little smart a…uh…alec in Red Bud, IL. He cut his broadcasting teeth in high school when he and a few buddies got their hands on some VHS equipment and started recording and broadcasting the high school basketball games on the local cable access channel.
In college, he switched to radio and got his first paying gig at the Classic Rock station WJEQ-FM in Macomb, IL. They put up with him for three whole years! From there, he started his long march back home. That journey took him to Springfield, IL to log three more years at rock station WQLZ-FM.
After that, he made stops at Alternative KQRA-FM in Springfield, MO; Classic Rock WCVS-FM in Springfield, IL; Top 40 WXAJ-FM in Springfield, IL; and Jazz WSIE-FM in Edwardsville, IL. He was even an intern at KPLR-TV!
Clearly running out of Springfield radio stations for which to work, Brando decided to throw his hat in the ring to join The Arch. After what was clearly a lost bet of some kind by the hiring manager, they decided to bring him aboard and here he is nearly six years later. In that time, he believes that he’s played at least one song from every artist that has ever recorded a song, EVER. Yes, it truly is “All About the Variety.”
Tune in weekday afternoons and he promises to play a variety of hits and make a variety of jokes about…well, just about anything.
