Help Stella Get Her Groove Back!

stellaMeet Stella!  She’s approximately 4 years old and a mixed breed.  Her age and breed aren’t known exactly because she was dumped at a high kill animal shelter after she had puppies.  Stella was saved from euthanasia on Christmas Eve of 2012.  She had given birth recently but her puppies were nowhere to be found.  The puppies properly weaned and had a terrible skin infection as a result in addition to being malnourished.  St Louis Pet Rescue saved her life and a kind foster nursed her back to her current good health.  Her skin infection meant she had to have cream rubbed on her stomach multiple times a day.  As a result she is an absolute sucker for belly rubs to this day.  She has the funniest white spots on her nose, we call them her freckles.  She almost seems to be mixed with shar-pei because she has extra skin behind her head.

Stella lives with another dog and they were fast friends.  She gets along with almost all other dogs, having lived in previous foster homes with pit bulls and large dogs both male and female.  She would make the perfect playmate for another energetic dog, she never gets tired of playing.  When it’s time to calm down she’s so happy to lay on the couch with her head in your lap.  She lays her head down, looks up at you with her beautiful brown eyes and sighs with absolute contentment.  We promise your heart will melt with her snuggles.

All of that energy means that Stella does need a strong hand or someone willing to work on training her.  She is just so excited about meeting people that she wants to jump up and lick their faces. When something runs by her, she wants to run with it – be it a bike, a car or a kid!  We recommend that she find a home without small children (she may knock them over with her enthusiasm) or cats.  We’re not quite sure what she would do with cats but she positively shakes with excitement over the thought of catching one!

Stella has been waiting over a year for her forever home.  She’s on her third foster home through no fault of her own.  Could you be that home for her?  She’s available for adoption and can’t wait to meet you.

Adoption through St Louis Pet Rescue requires an application, vet reference and personal reference checks.  An adoption fee does apply.
