Journey is helping the victims of the typhoon that hit the Phillippines last week by donating $350,000 to help relief efforts there. Journey singer Arnel Pineda is from Manila. He said, “Don’t stop believing. Help is on the way.” The donation will go to the United Nations World Food Program and should provide more than 1.4 million meals. Typhoon Haiyan made landfall in the Phillippines and wiped out entire cities, killing more than 3,600 people. Almost 2 million people have been displaced, with about 400,000 sheltering in evacuation centers.
Pineda was singing in local cover bands in the Phillippines when Neal Schon saw his YouTube video and recruited him to join the band.
Journey will play Verizon Wireless Amphitheater on July 11th, along with the Steve Miller Band and Tower of Power. Tickets go on sale Friday, Nov 22nd at 10am, but you can win tix tomorrow morning at about 7:40.
