Internet users who illegally share music, movies and TV shows online could soon receive warning notices from the five major internet service providers in the United States. The Copyright Alert System was created by the recording and film industries and is being activated this week. Under the new system. complaints will prompt a service provider (A T & T, Verizon, etc) to notify a customer whose internet address has been detected sharing files illegally. A person will be given up to six warnings to stop before the provider will take more drastic steps such as slowing down their connection.
