According to the London Evening Standard, Lenny Kravitz has been tapped to play Marvin Gaye in British filmmaker Julien Temple’s tentatively titled “Midnight Love” project (named after the album Marvin Gaye recorded in Brussels in the early 80s). The film will focus on the making the “Midnight Love” album while Marvin was living in Belgium – a drug addict and considered a has-been at the time. The album included the smash hit “Sexual Healing” and sold over 6 million copies. It was the last recording Gaye released before his death on April 1, 1984. He was shot and killed by his father one day before his 45th birthday following an argument and physical altercation. An autopsy revealed Gaye had cocaine and PCP in his system at the time of his death.
