Lady Gaga continues to come up with new and innovative ways to interact with her fans, and now she has unveiled an interesting idea for her next album: ARTPOP will be an App. She explained the idea on her social networking website, www.littlemonsters.com, where she wrote: “I’m excited to tell you all that ARTPOP is going to be a multimedia experience that comes in different forms. The most major way to fully immerse yourself in ARTPOP is through the APP. ARTPOP will be released as an iPad, iPhone, mobile and computer compatible application (WORLD) that is completely interactive with chats, films for every song, extra music, content, gaga inspired games, fashion updates, magazines, and more still in the works! I will also be able to upload new things to the APP all the time, the same way i upload to twitter and LM.com.”

Green Day‘s Mike Dirnt is offering a few more details regarding Billie Joe Armstrong’s show-cancelling illness this past weekend. He says that Armstrong “came down with heavy, heavy dehydration” and influenza. Dirnt explained that the singer was “vomiting profusely,” adding that “it’s hard to sing while you’re puking.” Green Day was forced to cancel their show in Bologna, Italy, on Sunday, but Dirnt says they plan to return as soon as possible to play a makeup show.

Nickelback‘s Chad Kroeger says he isn’t too concerned about what may happen when it comes time for people to “speak now or forever hold their peace” at his and Avril Lavigne’s upcoming wedding. He says he “tries not to take too much interest” in the world’s opinion of their relationship. Kroeger says the only thing that matters is that the two of them are very happy. He and Lavigne met earlier this year while working on music for her next album. They went public with their engagement last month. The couple has yet to set a date for their trip down the aisle, but it will likely come sometime after Nickelback finishes their tour through Europe this fall.

Eddie Van Halen‘s latest health drama was reportedly a frightening ordeal for his family. His recent emergency surgery stemmed from a near-fatal intestinal trauma. Sources say that he’d been attempting to self-treat a flare-up of diverticulitis by following the Master Cleanse Diet, which is described as a liquid mixture of water, fresh lemon juice, maple syrup, and cayenne pepper. It’s supposed to remove toxins from the body. But an insider says in Eddie’s case “the spicy treatment touched off an explosion in his intestines.” The “Enquirer” describes Van Halen as “clinging to life” when he was rushed to the hospital, and adds that his son Wolfgang, wife Janie, and his ex Valerie Bertinelli — Wolf’s mom — were all “sick with worry” and afraid he was going to die.

Elvis Presley‘s dirty underwear could have a new home by the end of the weekend. A pair of the rock legend’s unwashed briefs, which he wore under his white jumpsuit at a concert in 1977, is among the items slated to be sold at an auction in Britain. The soiled undergarment is expected to fetch close to 16-thousand-dollars at the sale, which will take place in the Manchester area on Saturday.

It looks like “Call Me Maybe” is going to be sticking around. The Carly Rae Jepsen song has been named “Billboard’s” Song of the Summer after selling five-and-a-half million downloads since its release. The Song of the Summer is based on a song’s cumulative performance on the Hot 100 chart from Memorial Day through Labor Day. According to “Billboard,” Jepsen is the first artist whose debut Hot 100 song has claimed Song of the Summer honors since Katy Perry’s debut “I Kissed a Girl” in 2008. This year will be Perry’s fifth consecutive year on the Songs of the Summer chart with “Wide Awake.”

Speculation over the subject of Taylor Swift‘s “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” continues. “US Weekly” reports that they have an unnamed source who is confirming that Swift’s latest hit song is definitely about her ex-boyfriend actor Jake Gyllenhaal. The single, which is Swift’s first number one on the Hot 100, has been surrounded by questions about the mystery man who Swift proclaims she never wants back. Singer Joe Jonas took himself out of the running right off the bat with an announcement, leaving a handful of Swift’s other exes to question.
