Rosie Perez spent most of her childhood in foster care. Her one constant was dancing and she was good at it. In the late 80s she became a Soul Train dancer and was eventually noticed by Spike Lee. He hired Rosie for her first major acting role in Do the Right Thing. Her next big film was 1992’s White Men Can’t Jump. The next year Perez landed a role in Fearless for which she was nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress. More recently Rosie played the corrupt cop in Pineapple Express. In 2009 she suffered a serious neck injury while filming an episode of Law & Order SVU. She was injured during a scene where her character was violently shaken. Rosie filed a lawsuit against the producers of the show last year. Today (9/6) is also the birthday of a singer known for her distinctive raspy voice. Macy Gray’s singing style was influenced by the late, great Billie Holliday. Gray’s “I Try” won Best Female Pop Vocal Performance at the 2001 Grammy Awards.
Both Perez and Gray are in their 40s. Who’s older?
