Who’s Older?

This Go-Go is in her 50′s but still goin’ strong.  As lead singer of The Go-Go’s, Belinda Carlisle helped the band sell more than 7 million albums in just 3 years.  Not only were they successful, but The Go-Go’s were the first all-female group whose members wrote their own songs and played all the instruments.  Belinda went on to a prosperous solo career featuring hits like “Mad About You” and “Heaven is a Place on Earth.”  She released her autobiography in 2010 entitled Lips Unsealed.  Today (8/17) is Belinda’s birthday.  She shares her special day with actor Sean Penn.  He went from playing a stoner in Fast Times at Ridgemont High to winning Oscars for his work in Mystic River and Milk.  Sean married Madonna in 1985 and instantly became a prime target of paparazzi.  He spent some time in jail for assaulting a photo-bug who got too close.  Penn and the Material Girl divorced in 1989.
