It isn’t easy being “The Boss.” In a candid interview with “The New Yorker,” Bruce Springsteen reveals he’s been battling depression most of his life and even had suicidal thoughts in the early 1980s, just as he was about to launch into the stratosphere of superstardom. Springsteen says he’s been seeing a therapist since 1982 and that his legendary live performances are byproducts of “pure fear,” “self-loathing” and “self-hatred.” Springsteen explains his thought process saying, “I don’t like anything I’m seeing, I don’t like anything I’m doing, but I need to change myself, I need to transform myself.” He adds, “I do not know a single artist who does not run on that fuel.”
Michael Jackson‘s mom no longer has guardianship over the late pop star’s children. The attorney for Katherine Jackson says he’s been told by Randy Jackson that she’s coming back to Los Angeles after a stay at a spa. A Los Angeles judge has named TJ Jackson, the son of Michael’s brother Tito, temporary guardian of Prince, Paris and Blanket. TJ made the move to take custody of his cousins in the absence of their grandmother, Katherine Jackson, who has reportedly been out of touch with the children for more than a week. The 82-year-old Jackson matriarch was said to be in Arizona resting under doctor’s orders, according to son Jermaine Jackson. The transfer of guardianship is the latest in an ongoing saga involving the Jackson family, members of whom are reportedly fighting with the executors of Michael’s estate over allegations of mismanaging the singer’s will. The feud culminated with a domestic dispute at Katherine Jackson’s home in Calabasas on Monday where officers were called to the scene. No arrests were made.
Elton John‘s family appears to be growing, and he and his husband David Furnish have baby number two on the way. The couple reportedly hired the same woman who carried their son Zachary to be their surrogate once again, and she’s said to be in the first trimester of her pregnancy. Elton has recently expressed an interest in having more children, explaining that the love he feels for his 19-month-old son is unlike anything he’s ever experienced before. He added that he didn’t want Zachary to grow up an only child.
Phil Collins is hitting the top ten on the new Billboard 200 chart with an old disc. Billboard.com says the former Genesis frontman’s 14-year-old compilation set “Hits” saw a four-thousand-575-percent increase in sales last week, primarily due to a one-day 99-cent sale on Amazon.com. With a total of 40-thousand copies sold, “Hits” is landing at number six on the chart. That placement is better than the album did the first time around, when it peaked at number 18 in October 1998. ”Hits” has also become Phil’s first top ten album and highest-charting disc in more than 20 years. The rocker’s last visit to the top ten was with 1989′s “But Seriously,” which enjoyed a four-week run at number one.
Thinner cheeks, a sharper jawline and “sexier, poutier lips” – A toy company behind a doll design for Lady Gaga says the pop star wants to be “re-born this way.” MGA Entertainment is suing the singer for ten-million-dollars, accusing Gaga of holding up production in its plans to make a doll in her likeness. According to the “New York Daily News,” the company claims when it sent the pop star sample dolls back in March an intermediary came back and told them Gaga requested they remove a voice chip from the doll and suggested a few cosmetic tweaks that would make the doll’s facial structure “more supermodel-like.” MGA had hoped to have the doll ready for Christmas but says Gaga prefers that it be released around the arrival of her new album and fragrance in 2013.
Katy Perry is the new face of Popchips. It was announced on the company’s website Wednesday that the singer will star in a national ad campaign this fall, plus partner with the company as an investor and ambassador. One of Perry’s new responsibilities will be to serve as a creative partner. She says this new partnership happened after she found the chips late one night and tweeted about them. Katy also says she was “surprised” to learn from the label that it was a “healthier choice.” Perry isn’t the first star to team up with Popchips. Ashton Kutcher, David Ortiz and Diddy are also among the reported celebrity investors.
