Bono and U2 have a global fan base, but they’ve also attracted critics on their home turf over money matters. Ireland’s “Independent” reports that a tax protest group called “Art Uncut” plans to go after U2 later this month when the band performs at Glastonbury Festival in the UK. So, what’s the beef? Protesters say the Irish band has engaged in “tax avoidance” by setting up some of its business interests in The Netherlands. Art Uncut claims its protest will demonstrate the impact of U2’s “tax avoidance” on the Emerald Isle’s schools and hospitals.

The band’s manager Paul McGuinness is responding the criticism. McGuinness calls U2 a “global business.” He also points out that the rockers pay different types of taxes around the world.
